It is recommended that the form be filled out and taken to the nearest Regional Center office and time stamped. Keep a copy for your records. Regional Center then has 120 days to review and respond to the intake form.

Step Two

Once your child has been diagnosed, speak to your Consumer Service Coordinator (CSC) about service options. If your child receives a diagnosis of autism and qualifies for Medi-Cal, you will need to contact your Managed Care Provider to request a behavioral assessment. Skip step three and see step four below.

Step Three

If you will be receiving services through NLACRC, it will be required that you attend a one hour orientation to behavioral services (click here for the calendar of orientation meetings). If it is determined that an intensive behavioral service, adaptive skills intervention, or in-home parent training is most appropriate for your child, indicate to your CSC that you are interested in receiving services from Behavioral Learning Center, Inc.

Behavioral Services Orientation (if services are funded through NLACRC):

Dr. Arpi Arabian, Director of Behavioral Services for NLACRC, will explain the basics of behavioral services, answer questions, and show a 20-minute video. After the orientation, you will be asked to sign an informed consent form for your child to receive behavioral services. You will then be provided with a list of vendor agencies from which to choose to take a 16-hour parent education group, receive an assessment, and begin behavioral services. You may choose a vendor for the parent education group that best meets your schedule. You may choose the same or a different vendor agency from which to receive an assessment and behavioral services.

Parent Education Group (if services are funded through NLACRC):

This is a 16-hour class on behavioral concepts as required by NLACRC for your child to receive behavioral services. During this class at Behavioral Learning Center, Inc. you will learn how the intervention will be provided to your child, basic behavioral concepts, parental participation requirements, and much more. This class is provided at both of our locations (Santa Clarita and Studio City) and will soon be offered in Spanish as well. Check our calendar for upcoming dates and times.

Step Four

Submit to BLC your child’s psychological evaluation from a Developmental Psychologist or an ABA prescription along with your child’s insurance cards. BLC will then submit a verification of benefits once benefits have been verified a request for an FBA will be submitted to the MCP.
